Swallow Falls State Park

We are back and this is the first post of our many adventures. We went to a state park about fifteen minutes from our cabin that I have been wanting to visit! The lady at the nature center recommended we go here because it is neat to see this time of year. She was right! The pictures really don't do justice to how beautiful the falls were! We hiked about ten minutes through the oldest trees in Maryland. We read about the different kinds of pines and found out that they are over 300 years old! When we found the falls we were able to look from the top and then climb down stairs to see the view from the bottom. The ice formations were amazing! What a great experience!

Colin found the boardwalk down to the falls!

Relaxing at the bottom. It's a long hike down!!

Poor Kevin had to carry William all the way down! Quess who had the harder job of carrying him back UP the stairs? (I am still sore from this!!)

The view from a platform at the top.

View from half way down the steps.

The kids loved looking at the huge ice formations around the caves.
