What is it about January and closets??

For some reason right after the holidays when it is super cold out I have the urge to organize and install a new closet system.
I'm so weird right!?
Last year it was our master closet and the year before Adrienne's.
This year I picked an easy one. We have a closet right outside of our laundry room and beside the door to the garage.
With winter in full force and snow gear being used on a daily basis, I knew I wanted a better storage system for keeping our gloves, scarves, hats, snow pants, etc.
First we cleaned and painted the closet. Do you like the orange?? It matches my laundry room. I need a bright cheery color in there to keep me motivated!
We (and when I say we I mean I come up with the ideas and Kevin does the work :) decided to install four drawers that were reachable for little people.
This has worked well so far. We are no longer going through the community bins searching for the one lost glove while a group of kids wait at the front door to play in the snow.
That was just a little stressful. There's even more pressure to get all bundled up when you have friends anxiously awaiting your arrival. (I think the neighborhood kids are thankful for this closet too!)
So now all four kids have a labeled drawer that they can go to find all of their winter needs.
We also raised the top shelf so we still have room to hang short coats and put baskets at the top for Kevin and I.
And in the spring when we pack away all the winter gear we can use the drawers for batting gloves, soccer socks, and all of that fun stuff!
It feels so good to complete something, especially when you still have many projects pending...
This home maintenance stuff is never ending isn't it???

That looks great! We're going to be doing bins here as well as soon as I get our laundry room cleaned out! Yes, it is never-ending ;)

I love it! I thought it looked great the other day, super functional and I KNOW the kids are happy to not be digging through misc. junk while just trying to GET OUTSIDE!!!!

And, we're getting ready for a closet, too! Haha!
