These spiders are NO JOKE!!!

We woke up one morning to this web on the side of our little deck. Mama spider had been very busy working all night. This was one of the biggest webs we have ever seen.
These spiders are all over Kiawah and we learned at the Nature Center that they are called Banana Spiders, and as scary as they look, they are really quite harmless. Unless you pinch or harass them in some way they will not bite.
(Which we certainly were not planning on doing, so we were o.k.)
They are amazingly fun to watch. Adrienne saw them "having breakfast" one morning. (YUCK)It was like an episode of Planet Earth Live.
Mama spider didn't stop us from enjoying our coffee outside. I even sat within a few feet of her web.
This was a HUGE deal for me because if you know me, you know I am scared of every creepy crawly thing on the planet.
So now you know my little milestone on this vacation. Coexisting with spiders.
