On Mondays the kids have piano lessons and my good friend Cathy is their teacher.
Once a month (if we're lucky) we plan a hands on activity for the kids to do together before their lessons.
They really look forward to this and enjoy each others company!
With spring upon us and Easter in a couple of weeks we decided to make crayon-resist Easter eggs and edible birds nests.
The kids colored designs on white construction paper cut out in an egg shape and used water colors to paint on top of their designs. Each was unique and the pastel colors were beautiful! Even little William could do this project.
Next, we made edible birds nests out of pretzel sticks, licorice string, and shredded wheat cereal. (we used marshmallow cream to stick everything together) When they were done making their nests they filled them with candy eggs!
At one point I heard Colin say "These nests are so awesome. I'm doing this every year!"
Music to my ears.
