Homemade Boats: Part 1

O.k. first of all I have to say that this book below is my new favorite!
It just has the cutest ideas including several adorable crafts, but most of all some really fun games to play with friends out in this beautiful "natural world" of ours! Order it from the library and take a peek, but it will probably be one you will want to buy!
Anyway... this wonderful book had the idea to make "homemade boats"out of (almost all) natural materials. We spend the last couple of days collecting items for our boats. Some things came from our craft closet (cork, Popsicle sticks, feathers, tacky glue ) but most we gathered from our backyards and woods (dandelions, tulip petals, hosta leaves, bark, lots of sticks, grasses, and other misc. items we thought worthy enough for our cute creations).
Unfortunately, with the gross weather we were unable to test our boats on the creeks but we have big plans for next week! It will be interesting to see who's will float and stay afloat the longest. Each one of the kids boats is unique and they all had different strategy's as to why their would succeed but we shall see...
Enjoying a few minutes before we got rained out.

Escaping to the woods.

Ethan and Colin holding down the "boys fort".

William being "rough" with Kyle and Ethan.

The girls working hard.

Emma was so proud of her "sail".

Colin and Kyle congratulating each other.

Adrienne's finished product.

Paige being goofy.

They are done and ready to float. Race is next Thurs. To be continued...

Okay, how much wine did you have to drink for all those corks? :)

I love this idea! I am going to reserve it right now!
