Boy was this fun! We went to the conservatory on Thurs. and before seeing the butterflies we had a picnic in the park and held our first (of hopefully many) scavenger hunts. I knew with Earth Day and Arbor day falling in the same week we had to get our nature loving selves out for some hands learning!
All of the kids from our preteens Kyle and Adrienne to our preschoolers Erin and Emma loved this activity!
Here is what they had to search for in case any of you want to plan to do this: a tree with buds, a migrant bird, three shades of green, a daffodil, a tulip, signs of nest building, bird sounds, an amphibian or reptile, a spring smell, mud, an insect, a maple tree, an evergreen tree and a mammal!
They all worked together and crossed things off of their list as they found them. I was amazed at how much time they spent exploring and how well they all worked together!
If you can't tell I'm giddy over this weather and getting outside so much! YEAH SPRING!!!
