Sneakin' a little math in

Yes, we are done with our sit down (boring) school work but like I said before the learning continues all summer around here!
I decided to touch a bit on Geometry this week. I printed some reference sheets off of Enchanted Learning, which if you home school and haven't subscribed to this website ($20/yr) it is WELL worth it! Lots of great ideas, books, crafts, maps, worksheets etc.
After reviewing I assigned them each 3 shapes to make with marshmallows and toothpicks.
Emma had to make a square, rectangle and triangle, Colin a star, rectangle and pentagon and Adrienne a hexagon, octagon, and heptagon.
When they were done constructing their assigned shapes, it was a free for all!
The kids all enjoyed this, and as you can see from my pictures little William thought this was a "tasty" project.
They all made jewelry, houses, churches and tons of other creations.
Best of all, it was a beautiful morning and we all sat out on the deck together birdwatching, talking and laughing!

Call me in the morning so I know what time to leave.

Hope you had a nice night with Kevin!

And Rhyse had a great day with Colin, I'll get some photos up soon.

Jenny, you absolutely amaze me! What a neat idea! They built some great 3D structures too! My boys would really love that! I think I have some mini-marshmallows left over from hot chocolate days...
