Aloha, we traveled to Hawaii today! (Wish we were really there but this will do for now!)
Adrienne, Colin, Emma, Anna, Josie, Mia, Grace, Connor and Sean all participated in this fun mini-camp at our house!
They started their morning out with making Hawaiian name tags.
Next, they headed outside for some "beachy fun". They played relay races, had a limbo and hula-hoop contest and played musical towels! This was tons of fun!
Then, it was time to make Leis and get to the cooking.
On the menu for lunch: coconut shrimp, fruit kabobs, chips with homemade salsa, and some kind of cool layered fruity drink.
Last, they made little books with some symbols of Hawaii inside. What a great day! Can't wait until tomorrow... Working on their name tags.
Getting ready for the relay races. These weren't just some boring old races either, these kids had to dress in ponchos, flip-flops, sunglasses, wear an inter-tube, hold an umbrella, and wrap a towel around their waste each time they ran the race. It was so funny to watch and I was laughing so hard I didn't get very many pictures.
Connor was the one to beat. He had to run the race twice because there was one less person on his team. Here he is dressed in all of his "beach gear".
Look who was watching all the action from the bedroom window.
The "creative umbrella" relay. This wasn't a race but instead a contest to see who could go from point A to point B with an umbrella in the most creative way. Lots of twirling, dancing, and skipping going on.

I love the fruit kebob (is that right? kebob?) and I may need the hawaiian rice recipe! (For Charlie, duh ;))
Looks like fun!! But I gotta tell ya...I had a margarita waiting with your name on it, sister. I drank it, of course :) Next time, you're being dragged along, we're too fun to miss out on, luau or not! :)
