Well, Fourth of July '09 was a hit!!
We started our day at the parade. Adrienne rode with her softball team and the rest of us waited anxiously for the parade to start (we thought it started at 10 but it didn't start until 10:30). Not a good mistake to make with a rambunctious almost 2 yr. old!
The kids love the parade but I'm not sure if it's because they actually enjoy watching it or if it is the thrill of the candy! We can always count on a few meltdowns during the candy throwing at the parade. But we made it through and guess what?? Everyone ended up with a lot of candy. See guys, no need to panic if the last piece thrown gets snatched by someone else. (All you parents out there no what I'm talking about right???)
Anyway, after the parade we found Adrienne and went home to make some treats and get ready for the evening. It was also a great time for the kids to rest and rejuvenate for the nighttime festivities.
When Anna and Josie arrived, we started out by decorating bikes and scooters. The kids worked hard and used those creative minds of theirs to make their bikes/scooters look so cute!
They had a blast swimming (in their clothes), riding bikes/scooters/rip sticks, and setting off their own fireworks (smoke bombs/pop-its/sparklers).
The best part of the evening was that we didn't even have to leave home to see a terrific fireworks display. We had our own private display right in our backyard (just like the night before) and the kids went over to our neighbors to watch the New Albany show from their deck. It was another fabulous fourth around here!!!
