The Angel Oak Tree

We spent William's birthday (post on that to come) in Charleston, but we took a small detour and made a little stop on the way into the city. The kids and I read about The Angel Oak Tree, (which is the OLDEST living thing east of the Mississippi River), in a book we checked out from the library about South Carolina before we left and when I looked on the map I realized it was only about 12 miles from Kiawah and on our way into Charleston.
The beauty and size of the tree was breathtaking! This thing was huge!!!! Not only in height but the diameter of the branches was unbelievable.
The kids thought it was so cool and although there were signs everywhere not to climb on the branches, (Colin was disappointed ),we could walk underneath and really take in the magnitude of this amazing tree.
So, if you are down this way sometime it IS worth the stop. It is just a few minutes off of the main road and only takes about 20-30 minutes to stop and take a look. You won't be disappointed!

Jenny, I LOVE that new headliner photo! WOW!! It's gorgeous!

And what a neat tree! We love seeing things like this too and will be sure to check it out when we're down that way.

(Because you know it won't be long before we're down that way. ;))

Glad you found it! There is nothing like it anywhere! It is a miracle it has survived so many storms. It is definitly worth the trip.
