Like I said before, we stayed in Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island and just a few steps away from our townhouse was this cute little lighthouse. As soon as Emma saw it she wanted to go up to the top. Her and I went up alone the first night we got there. What a view!! And what a long hike up to the top. Not a good idea to do in the evening WAY TO HOT!!
So, I was smarter the second time around when I took all three kids. We went first thing in the morning, and we slowed things down a bit to check out the history of the lighthouse and island on the way up. There were tons of old photos and stories from the islands past that were so interesting to look at and read about. We also enjoyed the cute little (air conditioned shop) at the top!! I don't know why we never did this before when we traveled down this way but it is worth climbing up those 144 stairs for the view of Dufuske Island and the beautiful bay!

It killed my enthusiasm for lighthouses. I felt like it was swaying in the wind, it was SO HIGH, I freaked bad, clinging to the walls and whatnot.

Gorgeous pictures! There was a lighthouse not too far from where we stayed, but with Megan getting sick, all my little sightseeing side trips went down the drain. You're really making me wish I was back at the beach ;)
