We started out Saturday morning with our Daisy meeting for October. After dropping Adrienne off at girl scouts I headed to Cathy's to pick the girls up to go the fire station.
We started our visit with our opening flag ceremony, the pledge of allegiance, collecting dues, and practicing the girl scout promise.
Then we had a visit from two firefighters who talked with us about fire prevention month, things to work on as a family such as a meeting spot in the case of an emergency, and general fire safety. We then got to take a tour of the station. We saw where the firefighters work out, hang out, eat meals, shower, and sleep. They took us into the room where all of their uniforms are and we learned what each color helmet means.
Next, we headed out to see an ambulance, and several fire trucks.
We were very lucky in that the firefighters who showed us around spend a lot of time with the girls, answered all of their questions, and explained everything in great detail.
The girls had a wonderful time and really learned a lot!
It was another successful Daisy meeting!
We are looking forward to our Nov. meeting where we will be collecting items for our first aid kit, making Thanksgiving cards for a nursing home, and getting ready for our investiture and Christmas party.
Cathy and I had a great time with all the girls! We missed you Amelia and Nikki but hopefully you will be able to make it to the next meeting.
Allison was the flag bearer in the ceremony and Sarah and Emma were the color guard.
