Writing With Rainbows

With St. Patrick's Day around the corner I printed off this cute little activity for Emma to do. She practiced writing her color words and we counted out how many of each color fruit loop. I wrote the numbers on a paper for her to practice her numbers. We incorporated a little math in too by subtracting blue fruit loops from the red and adding yellow and orange together etc. I am always trying to think of creative ways to get her to enjoy writing. I thought bringing out the rainbow fruit loops and rainbow colored pencils might help and it did! (a little) She loves to practice her letters but for some reason does not feel the same way about numbers. Anyone have any different ideas to get this chick motivated????

What a fun project! You are always so creative Jenny. Emma will be fine with her writing. I keep sketchbooks out for my kids. Of course if I told them WHAT to draw, they complain ;) so it's totally up to them what they put in there. The funny thing is how much writing they do! If they make up a character, ,they give (and write!) it's name. Sometimes they draw mini cartoon strips and have dialog! It cracks me up! But even if they only draw at least they're working on some motor skills. :) Make sure to take a sketchbook on your vacation and also on any nature walks too!
