Another Sunday at the park

We spent another Sunday at the park and this time we went to Blacklick Woods. Our goal is to hit all of the Metro Parks before winter. We'll see?? My kids are loving this and really look forward to spending this time together as a family. (Also, it's good exercise for mommy and daddy!!)
They picked Slate Run Park and Farm for next weekend. Can't wait to explore with you all again next weekend! We weren't sure what kind of bird this was. Adrienne thought it was some kind of Kingfisher. Anyone know for sure??
Adrienne saw these turtles climbing out of the water onto the log to sun themselves. They were way across the pond. (I am still having so much fun playing with the zoom on my camera!)

"Nature Boy" in his element!

William sees something cool!
We weren't sure what this was. I thought it was some kind of salamander, Adrienne thought it was a water snake and Colin was sure it was a tadpole. Who knows??

The kids spotted 43 frogs in the pond this morning.

Emma is slowly learning that if you stand still and are quiet you are more likely to see something neat out in those woods. (It's REALLY hard for this girl to stand still so this is a much needed lesson!)
Colin loves this cool bag he made at art camp. It has turned into his "hiking bag" where he keeps his nature journal to record all the animals/bugs/reptiles/etc. he spots on our nature walks.

They had this neat display of wildflower cards that we looked at before the hike. We were able to see and identify almost all of them.

Keeping up with the big kids.

I love this picture of William. He is checking his knees for boo-boos at the end of our long hike. Do you think he fell a few times? Yes indeed!

What a wonderful way to spend the day! Looks like everyone got to see a lot of little critters too...that's always fun! (better there than in your house, right?)
